First Half of 2025: Livestock Sector in Binh Thuan continues steady growth
(binhthuan.gov.vn)
In the first six months of 2025, Binh Thuan’s livestock sector maintained
positive growth momentum across key categories.
Specifically,
the province’s cattle herd reached 188,000 head, an increase of 2.7% compared
to the same period last year. Cattle farming continues to expand, especially
with the adoption of high-efficiency models such as fattened cattle and
high-quality crossbred breeds, which have proven economically beneficial.
The
pig population reached 415,000 head, up 7.1% year-on-year. Favorable market
conditions - especially high live hog prices - have motivated businesses,
farms, and individual households to increase herd sizes and expand production.
Poultry
numbers rose to 7.1 million birds, a 5.2% increase over the same period in
2024. Of that, chickens accounted for 5.67 million, up 5.8%. Biosecure
livestock farming practices and the adoption of technology in poultry
management continue to gain traction across localities.
As
of now, the province is home to over 221 concentrated livestock farms. Of
these, 65 large-scale operations have been certified as disease-free, including
45 pig farms (with 298,500 head, making up 71.9% of the total herd) and 20
poultry farms (with 3.7 million birds, or 52.1% of the total flock).
Additionally, 12 farms - 10 pig and 2 chicken - have received VietGAP
certification. Notably, one enterprise, TAFA Vietnam Livestock Co., Ltd., has
been recognized by the Department of Agriculture and Environment as a high-tech
agricultural enterprise.
Importantly,
no major animal disease outbreaks - such as avian influenza, foot-and-mouth
disease, blue ear disease in pigs, African swine fever, or lumpy skin disease
in cattle - were recorded during the reporting period. The provincial
Sub-Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Services also assessed and
granted certifications to four livestock facilities, bringing the total number
of disease-free terrestrial animal farms in the province to 64.
