2022, fishing activities in the province developed in the direction of
gradually reducing the number of small-capacity vessels exploiting inshore,
increasing the number of large-capacity vessels fishing offshore. Accordingly,
fishery production in the year is estimated at 231,380 tons, increased by 0.58%
compared to 2021, by 5% compared to 2019.
Up to now, the province has 6,711
fishing vessels/1,100,000 CV, of which there are 3,380 fishing vessels with
capacity of over 90CV or more. Fishing vessels of 90 CV or more are fully
equipped with satellite locator, depth gauge, and long-range radio
communications equipment; vessels of 400 horsepower or more are equipped with
automatic identification system and using a number of new technologies in
product preservation to improve quality, reduce post-harvest loss rates, and
increase the time of exploitation.
The implementation of policies to
support fishermen in exploiting offshore waters has been seriously implemented,
especially the implementation of support policies according to Decision No.
48/2010/QD-TTg; since the beginning of the year, localities have received 3,379
dossiers of request for support; currently relevant authorities are appraising
the dossiers to submit to the Provincial People's Committee for consideration
and approval of support for fishermen.
In the coming time, coastal localities
need to promote the efficiency of offshore fishing in association with the
protection of sea and island sovereignty. At the same time, continuing to
drastically implement measures to prevent and combat illegal, unreported and
unregulated (IUU) fishing, in which, focusing on doing well the propaganda to
change the perception of fishermen; effectively implementing solutions to
improve the living environment for fishermen, creating livelihoods and jobs for
them and strictly handling violations.
