(binhthuan.gov.vn) The Provincial Command for Natural Disaster Prevention and
Control, Search and Rescue has just sent a telegram to request the People's
Committees, Commands for Natural Disaster Prevention and Control, Search and
Rescue of districts, La Gi town and Phan Thiet city and other departments,
agencies of the province actively to cope with tropical depressions that are
likely to turn into storms.
According to the National Center for
Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, on the afternoon of 22/9, the depression area
in the middle of the East Sea has strengthened into a tropical depression. At
7:00 a.m. on 23/9, the location of the tropical depression's center was at
about 13.5 degree North latitude; 111.9 degree East longitude, about 280km from
the coast of Phu Yen, 290km from the coast of Binh Dinh, 500km from the coast
of Da Nang. The strongest wind in the area near the center of the tropical
depression is at level 7 (50-60km/h), gusts approaching level 9. The radius of
the wind at level 6, gusts approaching level 8 is about 100km from the center
of the tropical depression.
It is forecasted that in the next 12
hours, the tropical depression will move mainly to the northwest direction,
traveling 15-20km per hour and is likely to turn into a storm. At 19:00 on
23/9, the location of the storm eye was about 14.6 degree North latitude; 110.2
degree East longitude, about 130km from the coast of Binh Dinh, 270km from the
coast of Da Nang. The strongest wind in the area near the storm eye is at level
8 (60-75km/h), gusts approaching level 10.
In order to actively cope with
tropical depressions that are likely to turn into storms, ensuring the safety
of people and ships, vehicles operating at sea; cages for aquaculture at sea; big
waves, strong winds combined with high tides causing coastal erosion; heavy
rain on a large scale likely causing floods and inundation, the Provincial
Command for Natural Disaster Prevention and Control, Search and Rescue suggests
the People's Committees and Commands of Natural Disaster Prevention and
Control, Search and Rescue of the coastal areas regularly to update and monitor
closely the developments and movements of the tropical depressions through
forecasts of specialized agencies in the mass media; the situation of strong
winds, high waves, tides, coordinating with border guard stations in the area,
informing the owners of vehicles and ships operating at sea about the location
and direction of the potential tropical depressions that are likely to become
storms for proactive avoidance, and not to move into dangerous areas, preparing
appropriate plans for seafood production and fishing.
