(binhthuan.gov.vn) At 9h30, the Provincial Command for Natural Disaster Prevention and Control, Search and Rescue sent a telegram to request the People's Committees, Commands for Natural Disaster Prevention and Control, Search and Rescue of districts, town and city and other departments, agencies of the province actively to cope with tropical depressions that are likely to turn into storms.

According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, the depression area in the middle of the East Sea has turned into a tropical depression. At 7:00 a.m. on 06/10, the location of the tropical depression's center was at about 13.5 degree North latitude; 115.8 degree East longitude, about 270 km from Song Tu Tay Island (Truong Sa Archipelago) on the North – Northeast. The strongest wind in the area near the center of the tropical depression is at level 6 (40-50km/h), gusts approaching level 8. The radius of the wind at level 6, gusts approaching level 8, is about 80 km from the center of the tropical depression.

It is forecasted that in the next 24 hours, the tropical depression will move mainly to the west - northwest direction, traveling about 20km per hour and likely stronger. At 07:00 on 07/10, the location of the tropical depression’s center is at about 15.5 degree North latitude; 111.5 degree East longitude, on the south of Hoang Sa Archipelago. The strongest wind in the area near the tropical depression’ center is at level 7 (50-60km/h), gusts approaching level 9.

The danger zone due to tropical depression on the East Sea in the next 24 hours is from 12.0 to 17.0 degree North latitude; from 110.0 to 117.0 degree East longitude. All vessels operating in the danger zone are at high risk of being affected by strong winds and high waves. Disaster risk alert: level 3.

Due to the influence of the tropical convergence zone axially through the Central region connected with the tropical depression in the East Sea, from 06/10 to 08/10, localities in the province will have moderate to heavy rain, and very heavy rain in some areas. The intensity of heavy rain to very heavy rain mainly is from the afternoon of 06/10 to the end of 07/10.

In order to actively cope with the tropical depression likely to turn into storm, the Provincial Command for Natural Disaster Prevention and Control, Search and Rescue requests the Command for Natural Disaster Prevention and Control, Search and Rescue of localities to regularly to update and monitor closely the developments and movements of the tropical depression through forecasts of specialized agencies in the mass media; the situation of strong winds, high waves, tides, coordinating with border guard stations in the area, informing the owners of vehicles and ships operating at sea about the location, direction, danger zone of the tropical depression for proactive avoidance, preparing appropriate plans for seafood production and fishing, and not to move into dangerous areas.

Along with that, reviewing and checking to ensure the safety of aquaculture cages; regularly checking and monitoring areas affected by coastal erosion, especially residential areas, traditional craft villages and coastal tourist areas to proactively evacuate people, tourists and property to safe places. Note that: the response, prevention and evacuation measures must be consistent with the measures being taken for Covid-19 prevention and control in the area. The People's Committees of localities must prepare plans to deal with heavy rains, inundation, flash floods, landslides, and storms that may occur.

The Provincial Border Guard Command, Binh Thuan Port Authority, the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development and Chairpersons of People's Committees of coastal districts, town and city shall closely monitor, count and manage the release of ships, boats and vehicles operating at sea; maintaining the communication with vehicle owners to guide, support and promptly handle bad situations, incidents and accidents that may occur.

The Provincial Hydro-meteorological Station, Provincial Radio - Television Station, and newspapers shall regularly update information, increase the broadcast time so that the authorities and people in the province to know and take the initiative in prevention and respond.

In addition, the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, Department of Industry and Trade, Binh Thuan Water Resources Exploitation Limited Company shall coordinate with localities with reservoirs for irrigation and hydropower to review the regulation, operation and safety of the downstream corridor of reservoir. Timely notifying the localities when discharging the reservoir to minimize the damage to people, property, agricultural production when the reservoir has to be discharged for flood prevention (if any).
