With favorable fishing grounds, aquatic product output in August is estimated
at 22,263 tons, up by 1.52% over the same period.
According to figure
from the Provincial Statistics Office, in August, offshore vessels actively
pursued fishing; fishing grounds were favorable; the number of large-capacity
vessels operating stably. Fishing was mainly concentrated in coastal waters and
offshore areas in the province, the southern area of Phu Quy Island, Con Son,
Truong Sa archipelago, and DK-1 platform. The output of exploited aquatic
products in the month is estimated at 22,263 tons, up by 1.52% over the same
period last year (of which 22,206 tons were exploited at sea, up 1.53%). The
accumulated output in the first 8 months of 2024 is estimated at 156,514.3
tons, up by 1.34% over the same period last year (of which 156,158 tons were
exploited at sea, up by 1.35%).
Regarding
aquaculture, in the month, the aquaculture area is estimated at 232.5 hectares,
up by 1.48% over the same period last year. The cumulative 8 months of 2024 is
estimated at 1,767.4 hectares, up by 2.46% over the same period last year. The
aquaculture output in the month is estimated at 1,077.2 tons, up by 1.43% over
the same period last year. The cumulative 8 months of 2024 is estimated at
6,070 tons, up by 2.19% over the same period last year. The output of shrimp
fry is estimated at 1.9 billion, up by 2.25% over the same period last year.
The cumulative 8 months of 2024 is estimated at 14.8 billion, up by 2.21% over
the same period last year.
The work of
protecting aquatic resources continues to receive attention. Since the
beginning of the year, the whole province has not had any cases of fishing
vessels violating foreign waters. Regarding violations of other aquatic
resources, 10 violations were detected in the month; in the first 8 months of
2024, 80 cases occurred, including the following acts: 08 cases of fishing
vessels not registered or re-registered; 03 cases of fishing vessels not
inspected, not inspected for safety in exploitation; 02 cases of not having a
captain or chief engineer certificate; 03 cases of not fully equipped with
safety equipment for fishing vessels; 21 cases of using prohibited fishing
gear, fishing equipment, storing electric shock tools; 08 cases of fishing in
the wrong area, wrong fishing gear; 25 cases of not implementing regulations
when VMS cannot transmit information...
