(binhthuan.gov.vn) On the afternoon of January 11, Binh Thuan Department of Education and Training coordinated with Binh Tay Import-Export Joint Stock Company (BITEX) to organize the program "Accompanying orphans to overcome the pandemic".

At the event, the program awarded 26 scholarships to students with difficult circumstances and orphaned due to the COVID-19 pandemic in Binh Thuan province. Each scholarship is worth 2 million VND, including 1 million VND in cash and school backpacks, learning tools...

Speaking at the event, Mr. Phan Doan Thai - Director of the Provincial Department of Education and Training shared: The COVID-19 pandemic has left a lot of pain and losses, especially children who are orphaned father or mother, or even without relative nearby. The scholarships and gifts from sponsors and benefactors, although not of a great value, they partly alleviate the pain and losses of the students and encourage them to have more motivation to rise up to study.

Recently, due to the impact of the COVID-19 epidemic, teaching and learning in localities has encountered many difficulties. In particular, students are the ones who suffer the most when learning is interrupted. Notably, according to statistics from the Departments of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs of provinces and cities in the whole country, the period of 2021 - 2022 has more than 2,500 orphans due to the COVID-19 epidemic, falling into extremely difficult circumstances.

Mr. Nguyen Dac Luc - Deputy General Director of Binh Tay Import-Export Joint Stock Company said: With the desire to alleviate the mental pain of cases directly affected by the pandemic, BITEX Group has cooperated with the Ministry of Education and Training to organize the program "Accompanying orphans to overcome the pandemic".

Accordingly, the program will be implemented in 5 years from 2022 - 2027 with a total budget of up to 10 billion VND. At the same time, it can increase the budget if there is an increase in the number of orphans in need of support. In which, BITEX proposes to sponsor 50% of cases in Ho Chi Minh City with a total funding equivalent to 5 billion VND, because this is the locality that suffered the most from the pandemic; the remaining 50% is widely distributed across other provinces. Up to now, the program has reached more than 420 students in the provinces: Long An, Binh Duong, Ho Chi Minh City and Binh Thuan.
