Big waves in Binh Thuan sea due to the influence of storm no. 1

(binhthuan.gov.vn) According to The Provincial Hydro-meteorological Station, on June 30, a tropical depression in the North East Sea region strengthened into a storm, the storm no 1 in 2022, with the international name as CHABA. Southwest monsoon tends to become stronger.

It is forecasted that due to the influence of the circulation of the storm no. 1 combined with strong southwesterly winds, in the next 24 hours, the area off the coast of Binh Thuan (including Phu Quy island district) will have strong southwest winds of level 5-6, gusts at level 7-8, rough seas. Coastal wave height warning ranges from 1 - 2 m. The sea off the coast of Binh Thuan province has the wave height from 2 - 4m.

According to the National Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting Center, at 7:00 am on July 1, the storm eye located at about 18.2 degrees North latitude; 114.1 degrees East longitude, about 400km from southeast of Hainan Island (China). The strongest wind in the area near the storm eye was at level 10 (89-102km/h), gusts at level 13. The radius of the storm is about 150km from the center, with wind at level 6, gusts at level 8. It is forecasted for the next 24 hours, the storm will move mainly in the northwest direction, about 15km per hour and likely to be stronger.

In order to actively respond to the storm no. 1, the National Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Control sent an official telegram to coastal localities from Quang Ninh to Binh Dinh and related ministries and agencies to prepare respond measures.
