Binh Thuan actively prepares for fire prevention and fighting in the dry season

In order to actively prevent, respond and effectively prevent the risk of
forest fires, minimize the number of forest fires and the area of damage caused
by forest fires, in the first 6 months of 2023, the functional units have
actively carried out the work of forest fire prevention and fighting in the dry
season; focusing on monitoring and promptly notifying forest fire forecasts in
districts, towns and cities.
The
functional units have also completed, tested and put into use forest fire
prevention and fighting works in the dry season, ensuring safety for forest
fire prevention and control; developed and implemented forest fire prevention
and fighting plans at all levels. On the other hand, identifying key areas for
forest fires, arranging forces and means of forest fire fighting, organizing
training in the use of forest fire fighting machinery and equipment, and forest
fire drills. As a result, in the first 6 months of 2023, the whole province had
14 cases of vegetation fires (leaves, hay...) under the forest canopy with an
area of 16.5 ha, the fire cases were detected early and extinguished timely so
as not to cause damage to forest resources.
In
addition to forest fire prevention and fighting in the dry season, the functional
sectors have focused on coordinating with forest owners and localities to
strengthen patrolling, inspecting and sweeping activities in key areas of
deforestation. Paying attention to monitoring and grasping developments and
situations in the bordering areas with Lam Dong, Ninh Thuan and key areas of
the province, promptly detecting, preventing and handling violations of the Law
on Forest, contributing to stabilize the situation. Accumulated in the first 6
months of 2023 (till June 15, 2023), it has detected and processed 108
violations, including 11 cases of encroachment on forest land with an area of
4.5 ha. Issued decisions on criminal prosecution for 04 cases, sanction for
administrative violations of 66 cases, confiscated 50.5 m3 of timber
of all kinds.
In
addition, the afforestation work is concerned. In the first 6 months of 2023,
the newly planted forest area reached 780 ha. It has contracted to protect
transitional forests of 132,594.56 ha. In June alone, afforestation units
planted 780 ha of production forests. Currently, forest owners continue to
focus on sowing, caring for seedlings, planting scattered trees as scheduled;
Up to now, 1.4 million seedlings of all kinds have been planted.
