Recently, many localities in Binh Thuan Province have focused on developing
aquaculture to utilize available water areas, create jobs for workers, and
proactively supply seafood to meet both domestic consumption and export
demands, leading to high economic efficiency.
As
of now, the total area dedicated to aquaculture in the province is estimated at
2,246.6 hectares, marking an increase of 2.57% compared to the same period last
year. This includes 1,551 hectares for fish farming, up 2.03% from the previous
year, and 602.2 hectares for shrimp farming, an increase of 3.67%. Aquaculture
production since the beginning of 2024 is estimated at 8,308 tons, reflecting a
2.49% rise compared to last year. Of this, the production of farmed fish stands
at 4,148.8 tons, up 2.7% from the same period last year, while brackish water
shrimp farming has reached 3,990.8 tons, an increase of 2.21%
In
addition, our province has a sizable fishing fleet operating at sea. Since the
beginning of 2024, the estimated seafood catch across localities has reached
200,435.4 tons, reflecting an increase of 1.24% compared to the same period
last year. Patrol and inspection efforts to protect marine fisheries resources
continue to be strengthened by the relevant authorities
In
addition, the production of seafood seedlings in the province has also been
quite favorable recently. Cumulatively, since the beginning of 2024, the
estimated production has reached 18.9 billion shrimp post larvae, an increase
of 2.11% compared to the same period last year. Many seafood seedling
production facilities are now qualified to supply seedlings to localities
within the province, other provinces, and for export.
