(binhthuan.gov.vn) On the morning of April 16, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee - Le Tuan Phong had a meeting with Mr. Robert Greenan - Deputy Principal Officer of the Consulate General of the United States of America in Ho Chi Minh City coming to visit and find out the investment opportunities in Binh Thuan. There were also leaders of the Department of Industry and Trade and the Provincial People's Committee’s Office attending the meeting.

Mr. Robert Greenan - Deputy Principal Officer of the Consulate General of the United States of America in Ho Chi Minh City thanked the provincial leaders for the welcome and hoped that this visit would be an opportunity to find out the investment priority fields of Binh Thuan province for the expansion of investment cooperation towards sustainable development and better relationship between the United States of America and Vietnam. Mr. Robert Greenan also said that there are many US businesses that have invested and are exploring investment opportunities in Binh Thuan, he expects that Binh Thuan province leaders would create favorable conditions for investors to implement project investment procedures.

At the meeting, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee - Le Tuan Phong provided to the Deputy Principal Officer of the Consulate General of the United States of America in Ho Chi Minh City about the socio-economic development situation, the innovation achievements, investment attraction policy of the province. The Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee also informed that Binh Thuan has a lot of potentials for development in tourism, industry, marine economy, especially the geographical potential for further development; Currently, the province has many policies to attract qualified and enthusiastic investors.

Over the past time, the investment cooperation of Binh Thuan and US businesses has been developing well. Currently, there are 03 FDI projects from the United States with a total investment of about 85 million USD in the field of tourism and tourism services at the province. In addition, several investors from the United States have been investing in the energy sector in Binh Thuan province such as AES Group (Son My 2 combined cycle gas turbine power plant in Ham Tan district) and Energy Capital Vietnam (LNG Gas and Power Project in Ham Thuan Nam District). Comrade Le Tuan Phong said that the province is pleased to welcome US businesses and hopes that Mr. Robert Greenan - Deputy Principal Officer of the Consulate General of the United States of America in Ho Chi Minh City will continue to be the bridge between the potential US investors and Binh Thuan province.  

Discussing on renewable energy investment, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee said that the province has placed priority in energy development in the period of 2021-2025 and many years later, especially the development of renewable energy. He highly appreciates the capacity of US investors in the field of renewable energy and said that the province supports investors in this field. Currently, the Government of Vietnam is building a National Electricity Development Plan for the period 2021-2030 with a vision to 2045 (Power Plan VIII), which covers current and future development issues of the Power sector. Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee hopes the Deputy Principal Officer will discuss and support to increase the capacity of the power source in Binh Thuan whenever working with the Government of Vietnam.
