Continue to strengthen the prevention measures for measles

(binhthuan.gov.vn) Faced with the complicated developments of the measles; in order to continue strengthening the work of preventing measles, the Department of Health has just issued an Official Dispatch requesting units to seriously carry out the following tasks:

 

Seriously and fully implementing the instructions of the Ministry of Health in Official Dispatch No. 5099/BYT-DP dated August 28, 2024; at the same time, continuing to implement the tasks in Official Dispatch No. 3435/SYT-NV dated August 21, 2024, Official Dispatch No. 3577/SYT-NV dated August 30, 2024 of the Department of Health.

 

Actively coordinating with local press and media agencies to regularly update information on the epidemic situation so that people can proactively take preventive measures and avoid panic among the community. Strengthening communication and propaganda to mobilize people to take vaccination for their children fully and on schedule, and recommend and guide the implementation of preventive measures such as: Limiting large gatherings, regularly washing hands with soap and using masks at public places and crowded areas.

 

Continuing to closely monitor the development of the epidemic situation nationwide and in neighboring provinces to share and update information on the epidemic situation; proactively monitoring, detecting early, isolating and treating, preventing infection, and handling outbreaks promptly; regularly assessing risks, analyzing the situation and proposing appropriate and effective epidemic prevention and control measures; synchronously deploying epidemic prevention and control measures to prevent the spread and outbreak of the epidemic in the province.

 

According to the Ministry of Health, since the beginning of the year, the number of measles cases has increased more than 8 times compared to the same period in 2023 and is on the rise in some localities. In Ho Chi Minh City, on August 27, 2024, the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee announced a measles epidemic, a group B infectious disease, in the entire city.

 

According to the Center for Disease Control in Ho Chi Minh City, as of September 4, Ho Chi Minh City recorded 541 measles cases. Binh Chanh District and Binh Tan District recorded a high number of cases. 48% of measles cases are children from 9 months to 5 years old, 74% of them has not been fully vaccinated against measles./.
