COVID-19 is an occupational disease entitled to social insurance

(binhthuan.gov.vn) From April 1, 2023, COVID-19 became one of the occupational diseases entitled to social insurance. This is the latest regulation under Circular 02/2023 amending and supplementing a number of articles of Circular 15/2016 regulating occupational diseases entitled to social insurance issued by the Ministry of Health.

 

Accordingly, 06 common occupations and jobs and sources of exposure to SARS-CoV-2 virus that are occupational diseases entitled to social insurance, specifically: people working at health facilities; people working in laboratory, taking samples, transporting samples, handling, preserving and destroying samples containing SARS-CoV-2 virus; people working in epidemic prevention, service and relief for people infected with SARS-CoV-2 virus; officers, professional soldiers, non-commissioned officers, soldiers of the people's army, defense civil servants, defense workers and defense officials; soldiers and officers of the police force; people working in other occupations and jobs assigned to participate in the prevention of COVID-19.

 

Thus, COVID-19 becomes the 35th occupational disease in the list of occupational diseases entitled to social insurance. Over the years, Binh Thuan has always paid attention to and implemented many activities to protect, care for and improve the health of workers; prevent and control occupational disease to ensure the quality of human resources, maintain stable production and business activities of units and enterprises, and contribute to the sustainable development of the province.

 

According to the Program on care and improvement of workers' health and prevention of occupational diseases in the period of 2020 - 2030 of the Provincial People's Committee, of which by 2025, Binh Thuan will manage 50% of establishments having harmful factors causing occupational diseases; employees at facilities at risk of occupational diseases in the province are entitled to access information on harmful factors, measures for prevention and control, and entitled for health management and examination for  detecting occupational diseases. /.
