Crop production in 2022

to the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, the the weather of 2022
is favorable; due to the early rainy season and the amount of water stored in
the dams is guaranteed, the sowing time of the summer-autumn crop and the
planting areas has reached the set plan.
The cultivated area
for short-term crops is 193,402 hectares, reaching 100.16% of the plan and
equals to 96.41% over the same period last year; grain production for the whole
year is 805,063 tons, reaching 100.63% of the plan and equals to 95.74% over
the same period last year.
The planted area of
rice reaches about 92.52% of the plan, the decreased areas are mainly in Duc
Linh and Tanh Linh districts due to high prices of fertilizers and pesticides,
leading to increase in production costs. Therefore, rice production is not
economically viable, so people give up the rice crop. At the same time, some
fields were partially flooded, so people stopped producing. As a result, the
planting area for the summer-autumn crop 2022 is lower than planned.
In addition, the
situation of pests and diseases on crops continues to be detrimental to
production, and there are potential risks of outbreaks of epidemics such as
brown plant-hopper disease on rice, brown spot disease on dragon fruit, virus
mosaic disease on cassava, mosquito bugs and anthracnose on cashew trees, rapid
death on pepper, autumn worm on corn...
