Dengue fever prevention

(binhthuan.gov.vn) Along with COVID-19, dengue fever (DHF) also poses a threat to human health and life; especially, the weather is erratic and rainy these days. There is a risk of breakout if each person does not actively prevent the disease.

From the beginning of the year, the whole country has recorded 14,704 cases of DHF, with 6 deaths. Notably, the Southern provinces recorded the general situation as increasing in the number of severe DHF cases and deaths. The Ministry of Health forecasts: In the coming time, the number of cases of this disease is likely to increase because it is at the epidemic season. The situation of DHF this year will be complicated.

During the same period as above, Binh Thuan had 258 dengue cases, reduced 44.9% over the same period in 2021 (468 cases). The number of severe cases was 14, reduced 12.5% over the same period (16 cases), with no deaths. 25 outbreaks (reduced 43.2%) has been detected and promptly handled. Although the first rains of the season have appeared in recent weeks, the decrease in the number of cases is a positive sign.

The Provincial Center for Disease Control is coordinating with the district health centers to monitor the density of mosquitoes, larvae, and select places with high risk of dengue such as old outbreaks, places where epidemics often occur, and places with favourable conditions for dengue. In addition, local authorities regularly mobilize and propagate people to clean up, kill larvae, and mosquitoes at their residences./.
