Denmark to explore investment opportunities in energy sector in Binh Thuan

(binhthuan.gov.vn) On the morning of July 30, 2020, Mr. Troels Jakobsen, Commercial Counselor, Embassy of Denmark in Vietnam and Mr. Tran Viet Hai, Deputy Head of Economic and Trade Office in Ho Chi Minh City (Embassy of Denmark in Vietnam) had a meeting with the People's Committee of Binh Thuan province on the investment opportunities in the field of energy and renewable energy. Welcoming and working with the delegation, there were Mr. Luong Van Hai, Permanent Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee and leaders of Department of Planning and Investment, Department of Industry and Trade, and Binh Thuan Power Company.

At the meeting, Mr. Troels Jakobsen presented some key features of the cooperation between Vietnam and Denmark in the field of energy; At the same time, he introduced several large Danish corporations operating in the offshore wind power sector.

Mr. Troels Jakobsen said that Vietnam and Denmark have had a cooperative process in the field of energy since 2009. The first stage was the cooperation in the field of energy saving. By 2017, the governments of the two countries signed a cooperation agreement on renewable energy. Currently, the Danish is working with the Ministry of Industry and Trade to draft a development plan for the next five years.

Mr. Troels Jakobsen expressed: Denmark is very proud when Vietnam and Denmark have had many effective cooperation in the field of energy. In the field of wind power, Denmark is famous for many large companies and corporations operating in this field. For Denmark, Mr. Troels Jakobsen said that Denmark is ready to become an information channel, connecting necessary information about technology and investors to Binh Thuan.

Currently, the province has received a number of projects from major investors, but these projects are still in the stage of surveying and completing procedure to the general plan.
