Ensuring safety of dams before stormy season

In order to proactively respond to natural disaster situations, ensure the
safety of lakes and hydroelectric dams, and minimize damage caused by natural
disasters, the Commanding Committee for Disaster Prevention, Search and Rescue,
the Departments, agencies, localities must strengthen the inspection and
assessment of the safety of dams and hydropower reservoirs in the province.
At the same time,
regularly to inspect, supervise and urge the owners of dams and hydroelectric
reservoirs to strictly comply with regulations on safe operation and management
of dams and reservoirs and be ready to respond to emergency situations caused
by natural disasters, especially incidents of landslides and floods... To
direct the owners of dams and hydropower reservoirs to fully prepare vehicles
and materials ready to respond to any natural disaster situation. To coordinate
with localities having hydropower projects to well execute the flood regulation
and discharge to ensure the safety of constructions, properties and people's
lives in downstream areas. To prepare essential goods, supplies and necessities
for people in all situations, especially at areas that are easily divided and
isolated due to natural disasters.
To monitor closely
meteorological and hydrological developments and coordinate with relevant
agencies to actively operate the reservoirs in accordance with the prescribed
procedure in order to ensure the safety of the projects and the downstream areas
of the dams; to coordinate with localities in timely warning people in
downstream areas during flood regulation operation.
