Ensuring the safety of people, fishing vessels and aquaculture cages during the storm No. 4

Directorate of Fisheries has just sent a telegram requesting the Commanding Committees
for Disaster Prevention, Search and Rescue, Departments of Agriculture and
Rural Development of coastal provinces and cities from Quang Ninh to Binh Thuan
to ensure the safety of people, fishing vessels, aquaculture cages during the
storm No. 4.
Accordingly, the
relevant agencies and units of the provinces and cities from Quang Ninh to Binh
Thuan shall review, tally and firmly grasp the situation of fishing vessels
operating at sea, the storm shelter and anchorage areas at estuaries, and
coastal crossings; maintain communication and guide ships operating at sea to
move to safe places.
They are also requested
to organize the actual inspection at the storm sheltering anchorages for
fishing vessels and the concentrated anchorage areas; guide the anchor
arrangement to ensure the safety of people and fishing vessels. In which,
requesting ship owners and captains to remove high-pressure lights and seafood
drying racks on fishing vessels and keep them in safe places; urge boats and
fishermen operating in storm-affected seas to actively avoid and stay safe.
For aquaculture
farming, the Directorate of Fisheries requires organizations to strengthen and
move aquaculture cages to safe areas and cover the sides of cages with nets to
avoid loss of seafood; for a number of aquaculture households in storm-dangerous
areas, with high risk of damage, people should be instructed to harvest early;
absolutely not to let people stay in watchtowers, cages, aquaculture areas
during the time the storm hits the shore.
