Evaluation Conference on traffic order and safety in the first 9 months of 2023

In the afternoon of 20/9, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee
(PPC) Nguyen Hong Hai chaired a conference to evaluate the results of ensuring
traffic order and safety in the first 9 months of the year and the directions
and key tasks for the last months of 2023. Attending the Conference, there were
leaders of Departments, agencies and People's Committees of districts, towns
and cities.
In
the first 9 months of 2023, the whole province had 182 traffic accidents,
killing 117 people and injuring 125 people; compared to the same period in
2022, the number of accidents decreases 08 cases (-4.2%), number of deaths
decreases 17 cases (-12.7%) and injury increases 27 cases (27.6%).
The
most direct cause of road traffic accidents was the drivers driving on the
wrong side of the road or lane (accounting for 18.8%); carelessness in changing
direction (accounting for 13.8%); not paying attention (12.2%); violating
driving procedures (accounting for 10.5%); in addition, there are other causes
(accounting for 33.1%).

Giving
speech at the Conference, Vice Chairman of the PPC Nguyen Hong Hai requests
Departments, agencies and localities to continue to thoroughly grasp and
strictly implement Directive No. 23-CT/TW dated 25/5/2023 of the Secretariat of
the Party Central Committee and Directive No. 10/CT-TTg dated 19/4/2023 of the
Prime Minister on strengthening the Party's leadership on ensuring traffic
order and safety in the new situation.
Specifically,
the Vice Chairman of the PPC requests the Provincial Traffic Safety Committee
to proactively survey, check and evaluate the black spots where traffic
accidents frequently occur in the province. The Provincial Public Security is
assigned to continue to direct functional forces to handle violations of
traffic order and safety. The Department of Transport shall coordinate with
localities to supervise the implementation of residential access roads constructed
by the Thang Long Project Management Board and Project Management Board 7 on
the Vinh Hao - Phan Thiet and Phan Thiet - Dau Giay expressways. The Provincial
Border Guard Command shall strengthen inspection and strict control of
conditions to ensure order and safety for transport activities on waterways...
