Fishing vessels are not allowed to operate at sea without a cruise monitoring device installed

According to the Provincial Steering Committee on IUU fishing Prevention and
Control, Binh Thuan province has basically completed the installation of cruise
monitoring equipment on fishing vessels with a length of 15 meters or more,
reaching a rate of 98.8%. However, through the review and inspection by the
Sub-Department of Fisheries, to April 21, 2023, in La Gi town, there are 05
fishing vessels that have not yet installed cruise monitoring equipment; in
which, there are 04 fishing boats stopped working, 01 fishing boat is in
operation.
In
order to seriously implement Decision no 81/QD-TTg dated February 13, 2023 of
the Prime Minister and Plan no 220/KH-UBND dated January 30, 2023 of the
Provincial People's Committee on action program against illegal, unreported and
unregulated fishing; especially, preparing for the inspection of the EC
Inspection Delegation from May 23, 2023 - May 31, 2023, the Provincial Steering
Committee on IUU fishing Prevention and Control has proposed the People's
Committee of La Gi town to direct the relevant ward People's Committee, agencies
and units to directly request the owner of the fishing vessel BTh-84353-TS to
immediately install the cruise monitoring equipment; and prohibiting the operation
at sea until installing cruise monitoring equipment and strictly penalizing if
violated.
For
04 fishing boats stopped operating, the Provincial Steering Committee on IUU
fishing Prevention and Control has requested the People's Committee of La Gi
town to direct relevant wards and agencies and units to closely monitor and do not
allow these fishing vessels to operate at sea.
