According to the Ministry of Health's statistics on the status of Vietnamese children infected with COVID-19, since the outbreak of COVID-19 until now, the COVID-19 rate of children under 18 years of age in our country is 19.2. %, equivalent to more than 490,000 children. Notably, of these nearly half a million children infected with COVID-19, there are 4.8% of children aged 13-17; 8% of children aged 6-12; 2.8% of children aged 3-5, and 3.6% of children aged 0-2. Most children infected with COVID-19 are mild and recover faster than adults. However, medical experts recommend that, when a child is infected with COVID-19 and is treated at home, parents need to closely monitor the progress, connect and regularly contact medical facilities to promptly handle if the child has any symptoms or signs of aggravation.

Regarding the care of children at home, for children with COVID-19 who often have a fever, parents should not be too worried, rather to give the child fever-reducing medicine according to the instructions. Usually within 24 - 48 hours, the fever will subside. In case the child still has a fever or has other signs such as lethargy, struggling, persistent and prolonged vomiting, rapid breathing, etc., it must be taken immediately to the hospital. COVID-19 is no different from other common illnesses, usually after a week of illness, children will recover.

COVID-19 vaccination is an effective way to protect children from the risk of severe disease when infected
