Currently, our province's total forested land area is 336,132 ha, of which
natural forest area is 288,564 ha; planted forest and scattered trees are 47,568.23
ha. Forest coverage rate of the whole province reaches 43%; If including
industrial plants and perennial trees, the green area coverage rate of the
province is 55%.
However, the province
also has about 150,000 hectares of sandy soil and arid rocky mountains,
accounting for 19% of the total natural area, of which 25,757 hectares of degraded
land. The phenomenon of desertification and land degradation is attacking the
northern regions of our province such as Tuy Phong and Bac Binh districts,
thousands of hectares of sand caves and mobile sand dunes affect the lives and
agricultural cultivation of the people in the areas.
In order to overcome
the risk of desertification and the situation of natural disasters occurring frequently,
increasingly, and complicatedly on sandy coastal areas, the province has
determined that the afforestation and plantings to cover vegetation are
sustainable methods to protect the environment, improve the ability to absorb
and store water, minimize the water evaporation of land, block the wind and
reduce the process of desertification, jumping - flying sand...
