Ham Thuan Bac: 50 hectares of summer-autumn rice flooded due to heavy rain

The Standing Office of the Provincial Steering Committee for Natural Disaster
Prevention and Control, Search and Rescue has just made a quick report on the
damage caused by heavy rain causing flooding on May 28, 2023 in Ham Thuan Bac
district.
Specifically, on
the afternoon of May 28, moderate and heavy rain occurred on the upstream of
Thuan Minh commune, Ham Thuan Bac district, the amount of water from the
upstream poured into rivers, streams, and canals in the field, inundating 50
hectares of summer-autumn rice of the people in Thuan Minh commune. Estimated
value of damage is over 250 million VND.
Immediately after
the occurrence of local flooding, the People's Committee of Ham Thuan Bac
District directed the People's Committee of Thuan Minh Commune to inspect,
mobilize forces and means, and coordinate with the people to clear the drainage
canals and pump out the flood, pick up garbage at the sewers to free the flow
so that the water can recede quickly, limiting the time of flooding, and at the
same time, to focus on taking care of plants to minimize damage to soon
stabilize life and production. On the other hand, establishing an inspection
team to assess the initial damage and report to the District People's Committee
for settlement.
The People's
Committee of Ham Thuan Bac district has requested the People's Committees of
communes and townships throughout the district to continue to monitor the
forecast bulletins, weather situation warnings, rain and floods that may occur
in the coming days, organizing serious duties to inform for people in the
commune to know the situation to proactively prevent and minimize damage caused
by rain, flood and inundation.
