Ham Thuan Lake will gradually accumulate water as the rainy season is forecast to end soon

Da Nhim - Ham Thuan - Da Mi Hydropower Joint Stock Company has just announced its
plan to gradually accumulate water in Ham Thuan Lake ahead of the forecast of
the 2023 rainy season ending early.
According
to Da Nhim - Ham Thuan - Da Mi Hydropower Joint Stock Company, from the first
days of 07/2023 until now, it has continuously rained in the Ham Thuan
reservoir basin, and the intake water is always high. Therefore, the water
level of Ham Thuan lake at 0:00 on 25/9/2023 reached the elevation of 602,772
m, 0.27 m higher than the highest pre-flood level of 602.5m, lower than the
normal water level (MNDBT: 605.0 m) 2.23 m. However, as forecasted, the 2023
rainy season in the Ham Thuan reservoir basin will end early, the total
forecast rainfall in November and December 2023 is 15% to 30% lower than the
yearly average; the months from January to March 2024 are likely to have little
rain, the total rainfall is generally lower than the average for the same
period, and unseasonal rain is less likely to occur in the area.
Therefore,
in order to ensure sufficient water to supply the downstream for agricultural
production and daily life in the dry season of 2024, Da Nhim - Ham Thuan - Da
Mi Hydropower Joint Stock Company plans to gradually accumulate water in Ham
Thuan Lake to the normal water level of 605 m. Accumulation period starts from
September 27, 2023.
