Heavy rain accompanied by local flash floods damaged many in-field roads in Tanh Linh district

the Standing Office of the Provincial Steering Committee for Natural Disaster
Prevention and Control, Search and Rescue, on the night of June 25 and 26,
heavy rain accompanied by local flash floods caused stream bank erosion,
damaged roads, flooded many households and agricultural production areas which
affected people's lives and activities. Severely affected areas include
villages 1 and 2, Bac Ruong commune; village 1, Suoi Kiet commune, Tanh Linh
district.
Specifically, prolonged heavy
rain accompanied by flash floods locally flooded 60 houses (village 1 and 2,
Bac Ruong commune) and about 100 ha of rice (from 35-45 days old) in the areas
of Xom Chua field, Ong Lanh field Cay Me field in village 1, and Mang bridge field
in village 2, Bac Ruong commune; eroded and washed away about 300m of in-field
roads (the route from Phuoc Dien pagoda to Quan river, village 1, Bac Ruong
commune). In addition, in Suoi Kiet commune, the rural road surface was broken
for about 10m. Estimated value of damage is over 650 million VND.
As soon as the information on
flooding in hamlet 1 and village 2, Bac Ruong commune, the Commanding Committee
for Natural Disaster Prevention and Control, Search and Rescue of Bac Ruong
commune mobilized the entire voluntary forces, the police and the military to
support people to clean up, allocate properties and items to higher places to
limit damages. After the rain passed, the Commune People's Committees had
continued to direct garbage collection and dredging, clearing the stream system
in residential areas, as well as the local irrigation canal drainage system,
helping to drain water faster and limit damages to agricultural production
areas.
The Standing Office of the
Provincial Commanding Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Control,
Search and Rescue suggests the district People's Committee to direct the
district Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Control, Search
and Resuce to coordinate with relevant functional divisions and the People's
Committees of communes to inspect, verify and evaluate the damages, summarizing
and reporting to the District People's Committee for handling and remedial
action.
