Heavy rain has caused flooding in many areas of dragon fruit fields in Hàm Thuận Nam District

The Provincial Command for Disaster Prevention, Search and Rescue reported that
heavy rain from 3 PM to 6 PM on October 8, 2024, in Hàm Thuận Nam District
caused flooding of 1.0 to 1.5 meters in some areas of dragon fruit and crop
fields belonging to local residents.
The
rainfall recorded at several measuring stations in Hàm Thuận Nam District from
1 PM to 7 PM on October 8, 2024, was as follows: Hàm Kiệm Commune received 50.2
mm; Mương Mán Commune received 20.5 mm; Mỹ Thạnh Commune received 63.4 mm; and
Hàm Cần Commune received 60.0 mm.
After
receiving information about the heavy rain, the Disaster Prevention, Search and
Rescue Command of Hàm Thuận Nam District instructed the local Disaster
Prevention, Search and Rescue Committees to immediately implement response
measures; proactively check and assist residents in low-lying areas to evacuate
people and property from flood-prone zones. Timely updating weather and
rainfall information to the public to help people take preventive measures.
According
to statistics from the Disaster Prevention, Search and Rescue Command of Hàm
Thuận Nam District, heavy rain has caused localized flooding in 11.8 hectares
of crops (mainly dragon fruit) in Mương Mán Commune, Hàm Thuận Nam District.
To
address the consequences of the heavy rain, the People's Committee of Mương Mán
Commune in Hàm Thuận Nam District focused on directing efforts to mitigate the
impact, mobilizing local response teams along with residents to evacuate people
and property from low-lying, flooded areas to safe locations.
