(binhthuan.gov.vn) The Standing Office of the Provincial Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention, Search and Rescue has just reported briefly the damage caused by heavy rain in Tanh Linh district.
Accordingly, from the evening of May 19, 2024 to the morning of May 20, 2024, there was moderate to heavy rain in Tanh Linh district; in the two communes of Dong Kho and Duc Binh, heavy rains caused a lot of water flowing downstream, the drains (canal N8 - Duc Binh commune) are too small to drain in time, causing local flooding. As a result, about 52 hectares of summer-autumn rice crop were flooded and washed away, of which Duc Binh commune had about 50 hectares of rice crop locally flooded in the field area of village 3 and the 10 ha of village 4; Dong Kho commune lost 02 hectares of newly sown summer-autumn crop area in village 1. Estimated damage value is about 200 million VND.
After the flooding, the Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention, Search and Rescue of Tanh Linh district directly went to the scene, coordinated with the People's Committees of the two communes to direct the remedial work, and mobilized the pioneer forces and people to dredge and remove trash and trees that were stuck in the barriers of the irrigation canal system so that the water would drain faster and minimize damage.
Currently, communes are continuing to monitor the weather situation and direct the remediation work. In the coming days, if there is no rain and the water recedes quickly, the damage will be reduced and the inspection, assessment and determination of damages will be carried out.
