On the afternoon of July 14, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee - Le
Tuan Phong had an unexpected meeting with leaders of the Department of
Agriculture and Rural Development, the Provincial Border Guard Command and the
People's Committee of Phan Thiet on the situation of searching of fishing
vessel BTh 97478 TS lost contact at sea.
As reported by the
Provincial Border Guard Command, on the morning of July 14, the Coast Guard
ship 7011 of the Command of the Coast Guard Region 3 with many fishing vessels
approached the location of the BTh 97478 TS lost contact. However, they have
not detected any traces of the fishing vessel BTh 97478 TS. Binh Thuan Port
Authority has also informed cargo ships moving through this area to strengthen
their observation and search for signs of fishing vessel BTh 97478 TS, but
there is still no information detected.
Through the report,
Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee - Le Tuan Phong assessed that, in
recent days, functional units in the province have made great efforts in search
and rescue work of the lost fishing vessel. However, due to dangerous weather
conditions at sea, big waves and high winds, the options for mobilizing forces
and means of rescue are limited. The Chairman of the Provincial People's
Committee emphasized, first of all, it is necessary to forecast and evaluate
the nature of the loss of contact of this fishing vessel, with the possibility
of sink, not drifting.
The Chairman of the
Provincial People's Committee has requested the Provincial Border Guard to
coordinate with the Maritime Port Authority, the Provincial Commanding Committee
for Disaster Prevention, Search and Rescue to continue forecasting,
calculating, zoning, and determining accurately the range from the time the vessel
lost contact, thereby making a plan to continue searching in this area.
The Chairman of the
Provincial People's Committee also requests Phan Thiet city to monitor the
situation and encourage the relatives of the 15 crew members of the fishing vessel.
At the same time, coordinate with the Provincial Border Guard to stabilize the
situation, prepare the plan to receive the fishermen if they are found, and
ensure security and order.
