(binhthuan.gov.vn) The
local drought and hot weather lasting from July 17 to July 30, 2022 have
damaged a large area of hybrid maize in the flowering and fruiting stage,
greatly affecting the yield and quality of harvested corn in Ham Can commune,
Ham Thuan Nam district.
According to the
Standing Office of the Provincial Steering Committee for Natural Disaster
Prevention and Control, Search and Rescue, despite of propagating and mobilizing
people in the commune to use water sparingly, giving priority to the maximum
water source for daily life and production, the prolonged drought has led to a
lack of water for agricultural production, making 87 ha of hybrid corn of 62
households grow poorly, affecting corn productivity. The damage is estimated about
575 million VND.
As soon as the
disaster occurred, the People's Committee of Ham Can commune has directed the
Production Steering Committee of the commune to coordinate with the agency stores
of the Provincial Mountain Service Center and the Executive Board of the
villages to conduct the survey to gain the actual situation, listing the affected
households to propose the superiors for considering and support the people; at
the same time, to propagandize and mobilize people in the commune to use water
sparingly, giving maximum priority to water sources for daily life and
production.
The District Division
of Agriculture and Rural Development has coordinated with relevant agencies,
units, and the People's Committee of Ham Can commune to inspect, verify, and
record the damage of hybrid corn crop to synthesize, advise the District
People's Committee to submit to the Provincial People's Committee for
consideration and support for people's damages; visit and encourage people for
their stabilization.
