(binhthuan.gov.vn) In order to implement the National Target Program for Socio-Economic Development in Ethnic Minority and Mountainous Areas for the period of 2021-2030 under the Decision No. 1719/QD-TTg dated October 14, 2021 of the Prime Minister and a number of policies in the field of ethnic affairs, in recent years, the Provincial People's Committee has actively integrated central and local policies to meet the legitimate aspirations of the people and be accepted by the people.
In which, it must be mentioned the support policies on residential land, production land and domestic water for poor ethnic minority households and poor households in zone III, disadvantaged wards and villages in the province; projects on concentrated sedentary cultivation and settlement; preferential credit policy; ... The policy implementation has brought into play the creativity, will and resources of the people, contributing to change the rural face in ethnic minority and mountainous areas; as a result, the lives of ethnic minorities have been gradually improved.
The rate of poor households decreased significantly; at the beginning of 2017, poor households in ethnic minority areas in the province was 3,584 households/14,371 persons, accounting for 17.67%; near-poor households was 2,547 households/11,081 persons, accounting for 12, 56%. By early 2021, poor households in ethnic minority areas was 1,180 households, accounting for 4.73%; near-poor households was 3,238 households, accounting for 13%. The rate of poor households in ethnic minority areas in the period 2017 - 2021 decreased by 12.94% (equivalent to a decrease of 3.24% per year). Besides, the people's intellectual level has also been raised, the practices and techniques of intensive production of ethnic minorities have changed in the direction of commodity production to gradually meet the requirements of the market; the great solidarity is strengthened; political security, social order and safety are maintained.
