Model of sustainable and disease-safety dragon fruit intensive farming

(binhthuan.gov.vn) According to the Provincial Agricultural Extension Center, in order to implement the model of sustainable and disease-safety dragon fruit intensive farming, it has transferred 150 hectares to Hong Son, Ham Chinh and Ma Lam, Ham Thuan Bac district to apply biosecurity measures into production, especially using Bio-ADB preparations to treat brown spot diseased dragon fruit branches to create organic fertilizer and reusing for plants.

The model of sustainable and disease-safety dragon fruit intensive farming gives a yield of 40,130 kg/ha/2 crops/year, increased by 20% compared to mass production without intensive farming. The profit of the model after deducting costs reaches 238,488,600 VND/ha/2 crops/year, 30.14% higher than that of non-intensive farming. Through the implementation of this model, it has brought high economic efficiency to farmers, helping to save the cost of buying fertilizers and pesticides, the reasonable fertilization meeting the nutritional needs of the grown crops has contributed to increase the income of farmers.

In addition, this model also helps farmers change production awareness, by increasing the use of biological fertilizers and pesticides to reduce environmental pollution and ensure food hygiene and safety. Improving productivity and quality, dragon fruit looks more beautiful, number of grade 1 fruit is increased, saving investment costs, thereby improving economic efficiency for producers.
