According to the Provincial Agricultural Extension Center, in order to
implement the model of sustainable and disease-safety dragon fruit intensive farming,
it has transferred 150 hectares to Hong Son, Ham Chinh and Ma Lam, Ham Thuan
Bac district to apply biosecurity measures into production, especially using
Bio-ADB preparations to treat brown spot diseased dragon fruit branches to create
organic fertilizer and reusing for plants.
The model of
sustainable and disease-safety dragon fruit intensive farming gives a yield of
40,130 kg/ha/2 crops/year, increased by 20% compared to mass production without
intensive farming. The profit of the model after deducting costs reaches
238,488,600 VND/ha/2 crops/year, 30.14% higher than that of non-intensive
farming. Through the implementation of this model, it has brought high economic
efficiency to farmers, helping to save the cost of buying fertilizers and
pesticides, the reasonable fertilization meeting the nutritional needs of the
grown crops has contributed to increase the income of farmers.
In addition, this
model also helps farmers change production awareness, by increasing the use of
biological fertilizers and pesticides to reduce environmental pollution and
ensure food hygiene and safety. Improving productivity and quality, dragon
fruit looks more beautiful, number of grade 1 fruit is increased, saving investment
costs, thereby improving economic efficiency for producers.
