Currently, in Binh Thuan province, there are 04 general seaports, namely Phan
Thiet, Phu Quy, Vinh Tan and Son My seaports. Up to now, there have been 03
seaports in operation, including Phan Thiet, Phu Quy and Vinh Tan ports, while
Son My port is in the stage of attracting investment. The total volume of goods
through the province's seaports reached 16.27 million tons, with average growth
of 17.08% per year (in the period 2016 - 2019). The volume of goods through the
province's seaport in 2021 was 13.28 million tons.
According
to the Department of Transport, Vinh Tan International Port is currently being
used as a general cargo port; Phan Thiet and Phu Quy ports transport both goods
and passengers; there are no international passenger ships docked at the local
ports. Besides, our province also has other port areas, including Duong Dong
oil port; Ke Ga port…
The
current function of the Vinh Tan port is to directly serve the Vinh Tan power
center, and a part of goods from the Central Highlands region; there are
general wharfs, containers, bulk cargo. Vessel sizes up to 100,000 DWT.
Currently, Vinh Tan port has built and put into operation 02 wharfs, which are
3,000 DWT wharf and 50,000 DWT wharf. Vinh Tan Port is recognized as a point for
gathering, inspection and supervision of exported and imported goods according
to the Regulations of the General Department of Vietnam Customs to receive
import and export cargo ships and international ships. According to the plan,
Vinh Tan port can receive ships with a tonnage of up to 100,000 tons. In 2020,
the volume of cargo through Vinh Tan port was 867,000 tons.
Son
My Port has the function of directly serving Son My industrial park, Son My LNG
warehouse and Son My power center; there are liquid/gas cargo terminals,
general wharfs, passenger berths suitable to the needs and capacity of
investors. It can receive liquid/gas cargo ships up to 150,000 DWT; general,
bulk cargo ships of up to 100,000 DWT, international passenger ships suitable
to actual needs, but currently it has not been invested.
Other
ports, including Ke Ga port, have the function of serving the Ke Ga LNG power
plant in accordance with the electricity development planning, combining with
investment in a coastal tourist port; with the size of ship is developed in
accordance with the needs and capacity of investors; Currently, it has not been
invested. Offshore ports at Hong Ngoc, Su Tu Den, Su Tu Vang, Thang Long - Dong
Do mines are oil and gas ports, developed in accordance with the needs of
mining operations.
Phan
Thiet port and Phu Quy port serve local socio-economic development and the
route to the island, receiving passenger ships and cargo ships of up to 5,000
tons. Currently, Phan Thiet port is invested and built to serve the operation
of cargo and passenger ships from Phan Thiet city to Phu Quy island. Phan Thiet
port has been invested and put into operation since 2018 with an area of 5.3
ha, with capacity of receiving 1,000 DWT ships, loading and unloading at 2,000
tons/day; length is 91.6 m with 7 anchors, wharf system is nearly 181 m long, the
draught in front of wharf is 5.5 m.
Phu
Quy port is invested and built in an area of 4.49 hectares, with a receiving
capacity of 123.9 thousand tons of cargo/year, a wharf with a length of 51.2 m,
capable for receiving ships of 2,000 tons; Currently, Phu Quy port is put into
use to receive passenger ships (fast) from Phan Thiet to Phu Quy island. Duong
Dong oil port can receive petroleum tankers from 5,000 DWT to 15,000 DWT; It is
expected to expand the receiving wharf to increase its capacity to 20,000 DWT
oil tankers, meeting the demand for importing large shipments to reduce
transportation costs. In addition, in the province, there are anchorages for
transmission, avoidance and shelter in Vinh Tan, Son My, Ke Ga, Phan Thiet, Phu
Quy and other eligible areas.
