Currently, the Provincial Center for Clean Water and Environmental Sanitation
is managing and operating 41 water supply works with a total design capacity of
54,150 m3/day and night, supplying water for 12 wards, 09 towns and 55 communes
belonging to 09/10 districts, towns and cities (except Tuy Phong district),
providing to over 77,000 customers. In which, there are 26 works exploiting raw
water from surface water sources, 15 works exploiting underground water sources.
According
to the Center for Rural Clean Water and Sanitation, in the dry season of 2023,
surface water sources in the province basically meet the people's water use
needs; however, some surface water sources have been drastically reduced, so
they can only meet about 50% of the plant's capacity, such as in Thien Nghiep,
Ham My, and Duc Binh communes. The exploitation works from underground water
sources cannot meet the needs of the people, due to the depletion of
underground water sources, affecting the operation of the plant in the areas of
Luong Son, Ham Phu, Mui Ne, Phu Quy.
In order to meet the
increasing demand for water of the people in the dry season this year, the
Center has fully prepared human and material resources to ensure a stable water
supply, minimizing the shortage of domestic water sources; sending letters to
the localities to request for prioritizing water sources for daily life and
requesting Binh Thuan Power Company to prioritize stable power sources for
operating water plants to supply domestic water to the people. At the same
time, proactively checking and maintaining equipment and pipelines to prevent
technical problems from disrupting water supply, organizing 24-hour duty a day.
In addition, the Center also propagandizes people to use water sparingly and
rationally and not to use clean water for agricultural production and other
unnecessary needs.
In the long term, in order to ensure a stable supply of daily-life water to
the people in the province, the Rural Water Supply and Sanitation Center will
continue to invest, upgrade and expand water supply works from the central and local
budgets, and funds from donors to build large-capacity water supply works in the
districts with the location of water plants adjacent to large-scale irrigation
works or large rivers of the province to ensure a stable source of raw water in
the dry season, helping water plants to operate regularly and continuously, avoiding interruptions; at the same
time, focusing on investment of upgrading and expanding the
existing water supply works in the direction of
increasing capacity and improving water quality to meet the
flow requirements and the quality of water sources
according to the standards of the Ministry of Health. Speeding up the
implementation and completion of the Ham Thuan Bac District Water Plant Project
with a capacity of 10,000 m3/day to provide clean water for people
in 13/17 communes and towns in Ham Thuan Bac district. Be proactive in the
management, operation and maintenance of water supply works in a professional
manner to
ensure
sustainable operation.
