Phan Thiet has been proactive in rabies prevention

(binhthuan.gov.vn) From the beginning of 2024, the whole province has detected 09 cases of rabies in animals, including 08 cases in Phan Thiet city. Due to promptly grasping the situation and promoting preventive solutions, despite the number of rabies cases in animals is high, up to now, the locality has not recorded any deaths. In order to limit the spread of rabies in animals and from animals to humans, the city continues to synchronously deploy many solutions.

Currently, all wards and communes in Phan Thiet city have established free-roam dog trapping teams. It is known that these specialized teams will maintain patrols 2 days/week or unexpectedly when an incident occurs.

Mrs. Nguyen Thi My Thanh, a resident of Duc Thang ward, shared: "When I go out and see a dog running loose on the street, I get very worried. Because it is unknown whether these dogs have been vaccinated or not, if they accidentally bite me and my relatives, it will be very troublesome. Therefore, I strongly support the government's strong handling of this issue."

According to statistics, the city currently has more than 9,400 dogs and cats, of which more than 5,500 ones have been vaccinated against rabies, reaching a rate of more than 58%. Vaccination work for dogs and cats is continuing to be promoted. In order to proactively prevent rabies, Phan Thiet City has also deployed support for free rabies vaccination for dogs and cats in the area./.
