The electricity system on Phu Quy island is an independent operating system
that is not connected to the national electricity system. In 2017, Phu Quy Electricity
was invested by Binh Thuan Power Company and Southern Power Corporation to
renovate medium and low voltage power grids and expand diesel source;
medium-voltage grids are all covered, upgraded, and installed with remote
switchgears; diesel power is enhanced by 5MW. Currently, Phu Quy Electricity is
managing 38.8 km of low voltage lines, 47.8 km of medium voltage lines and 72
substations with a total capacity of 10,657 kVA; Sources include 10 MW of diesel
power, 6 MW of wind power and 0.732 MW of solar power.
Phu Quy diesel power plant
has been put into operation since 1999, with 400 m3 and 25 m3 oil tanks
installed outdoors with a height of 6 m and going up by stairs, making many difficulties
to monitor the amount of oil in the tanks, especially when the weather is bad,
high winds and heavy rain. Therefore, in 2022, Phu Quy Electricity applied
artificial intelligence combined with sensors into oil measurement and carried
out at 6 large outdoor oil tanks. The measured volume of each tank after going
through the PLC processing system will be displayed on the SCADA computer
screen, the operator can directly view the volume of each operation tank on the
computer as well as monitor the opening and closing status of the oil valves
entering the tanks.

With its efforts in
applying digital transformation to production and business activities, Phu Quy
Electricity has now ensured stable grid operation, supplying electricity to
99.9% of households, contributing to promote local socio-economic development.
