(binhthuan.gov.vn) As of December 2022, the useful capacity at reservoirs across the province is 298.82/362.37 million m3, reaching 82.46% of the design capacity, 19.46 million m3 higher than the same period last year; the useful capacity in 2 hydroelectric reservoirs Ham Thuan and Dai Ninh is 642.89/769.27 million m3, reaching 83.04 % of the designed capacity, 126.39 million m3 lower than the same period last year.

According to calculations Binh Thuan Water Resources Exploitation Limited Company, in the dry season of 2023, the Company will supply water for domestic water plants from irrigation work systems with the amount at the focal point is 63.08 million m3. In which, supplying domestic water for Tuy Phong district 9.57 million m3; Bac Binh 4.13 million m3; Ham Thuan Bac and Phan Thiet 35.59 million m3; Ham Thuan Nam 5.63 million m3; La Gi town and Ham Tan district 8.11 million m3; Duc Linh and Tanh Linh 0.07 million m3.

In addition, the Company also has to balance water source at reservoirs to arrange production water for people in the Winter-Spring crop 2022 - 2023 with an area of 32,739 hectares of rice; water to irrigate dragon fruit trees, industrial plants... in localities.

Therefore, in order to ensure the supply of water for daily life and production to the people in the dry season 2023, in the coming time, Binh Thuan Water Resources Exploitation Limited Company will strengthen water storage measures, make full use of existing water sources for crop irrigation needs; establish schedules of alternate irrigation and water supply. At the same time, coordinating with water user groups to strictly manage water sources; dredging, clearing main canals, renovating and repairing canals, water intake culverts, irrigation pumping stations to ensure economical and efficient use of water.

Districts, towns and cities shall direct communes to dredge the system of in-field canals for agricultural production of the people. In addition, propagandizing and mobilizing people to plant on schedule, use water for irrigation sparingly, and not to grow rice outside the planned area.
