Public awareness enhancement and community-based disaster risk management

(binhthuan.gov.vn) The Provincial People's
Committee has just issued the Implementation Plan for the Project “Public
awareness enhancement and community-based disaster risk management, vision to
2030".
Accordingly, the goal of the project
is to raise the awareness on natural disasters and capacity to respond to natural
disasters for staffs working in disaster prevention and control, local
government officials and people in areas frequently affected by natural
disasters, contributing to build communities in communes and districts safely
coping with natural disasters and capable of adapting to climate change;
forming a culture of prevention, proactively and actively participating in
natural disaster prevention and control of the majority of the people, in order
to contribute to the implementation of the national criteria on new rural
communes, minimizing the damage to people, property and the environment caused
by natural disasters. Satisfying the requirements of sustainable economic
development, social stability, ensuring security and defense in the province.
The Project consists of 3 components:
mechanisms and policies completion, and guidance for the implementation of
public awareness enhancement and community-based disaster risk management;
capacity building for natural disaster prevention and control forces and government
officials at all levels, implementation of activities for raising public
awareness and community-based disaster risk management; communication and
education enhancement for raising awareness, capacity and skills for the
community on disaster risk reduction.
