QUICK REPORT

on COVID-19 situation

(updated to 16h00, 14/8/2020)

I. COVID-19 SITUATION

According to the report of the Infectious Disease Monitoring System of Ministry of Health, up to 14:30, 17/3/2020, current Covid-19 situation is as follows:

1. In the world

- Total: 21,082,038 cases; 757.633 deaths.

- Countries with high morbidity and mortality rates:

+ USA: 5,415,666 cases, 170,415 deaths;

+ Brazil: 3,229,621 cases, 105,564 deaths;

+ India: 2,464,316 cases, 48,177 deaths;

+ Russia: 912, 823 cases, 15,498 deaths;

+ South Africa: 572,865, 11,270 deaths;

- 215 countries, territories have reported confirmed cases of infection.

2. In Vietnam

- Total: 911 cases / 40 provinces, cities, in which:

+ Recovered and discharged: 430 cases.

+ Under treatment: 460 cases.

+ 21 deaths.

3. In Binh Thuan province

Up to now, Binh Thuan province has been recorded for 154 consecutive days without any case of COVID-19 infection.

Currently, the number of cases under centralized quarantine at the treatment faciclities and centralized isolation faciclities is 14 cases, all them are in stable health. In which:

- Quarantined in treatment faciclites: 12 cases.

+ Provincial General Hospital: 02 cases.

+ Tanh Linh Medical Center: 05 cases.

+ Ham Tan Medical Center: 02 cases.

+ Tuy Phong Medical Center: 03 cases.

• Quarantined in centralized isolation facilities: 02 cases.

+ Tanh Linh Boarding School for ethnic minorities: 01 case.

+ Ham Thuan Nam Center for Continuing – Vocational Education: 01 case.

II. DEPLOYMENT OF DISEASE PREVENTION IN BINH THUAN

1. Directions of Central Government, Provincial Party Committee, Provincial People’s Committee, Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control.

- Number of test samples taken from 16:00, 13/8/2020 to 16:00, 14/8/2020 is 08 (accumulated 980 samples).

- Number of tested samples in the day is 05, with negative results (accumulated 974 tested samples with negative results, the remaining are waiting for results).

- Number of peple from those provincies and cities recorded infections according to the Ministry of health to Binh Thuan province from 16:00, 13/8/2020 to 16:00, 14/8/2020 is 28 (accumulated 3,336 cases), and they are all closely monitored and supervised by the heal agencies, in which 12 cases quaranted at treament facilites, 02 cases quaranted at central isolation facilities, 975 cases quaranted at homes. Currently, 2,347 cases has passed quarantine time.

1.3. Propaganda works

- Continuing to propagate the situation of acute respiratory infections caused by Covid-19 in the entire province on website of the Department of Health, Binh Thuan Health information page, Newspapers, Provincial Radio and Television Station.

- Binh Thuan Radio and Television Station has propagated the COVID-19 epidemic prevention and control in the morning, afternoon, and evening programs on radio and television chanels, specifically: updates on COVID-19 situation in the morning, afternoon and evening on 8/14/2020; minimize family members taking care of patients to prevent the epidemic; tightly control fake news on COVID-19.

- Coordinating with the Provincial Public Security Department to continuously monitor the information on social networks to promply rectify and handle any case of inaccurace, false or untrue information on the epidemic.

2.4. Deployment results of epidemic prevention by departments, agencies, localities and the management of tourists in Binh Thuan

2.4.1. Departments and agencies

- By reviewing the data from the provincial Immigration Department and the tourist accommodation establishments, as of 14/8/2020, Binh Thuan received about 2,110 guests (increases 180 guests compared to 13/8/2020), including: about 1,380 domestic visitors, 730 international visitors such as Russia: 224, Germany: 13, France: 51, USA: 38, Ukraine: 27, UK: 26.

- Continuing to review and conduct medical declarations for civil servants, public employees, employees and their families and relatives who have contacted or returned from epidemic areas; and for cases of going back from epidemic areas have made local medical declarations and passed quarantine time in accordance with instructions and regulations.

2.4.2. People’s Committee of districts, towns and cities

- Continue to direct units and localities to strengthen the communication,  and monitoring health at home, conducting medical declaration for cases coming back home from abroad and epidemic areas in order to have timely solutions to avoid spreading the epidemic to the community.

- Continue to direct functional units to strengthen the inspection and examination to prohibit speculation and accumulation of essential goods, medical supplies, strictly handle the speculation, goods hoarding, price increases, causing market instability in accordance with the laws.

III. IDENTIFICATION OF EPIDEMIC DEVELOPMENT IN THE COMING TIME

Over 154 days, Binh Thuan province has had no new case (from March 12 to now). However, the epidemic development is still very complicated. Currently, Vietnam has total 911 cases of COVID-19 infection, there are many cases of infection in the community with 21 deaths. Therefore, it is required that we are absolutely  not be subjective, neglected, out of guard, and always ready at the highest level, especially for the forces directly engaged in epidemic prevention and control.

IV. WORKS TO BE CONTINUATED IN THE PREVENTION AND CONTROL OF EPIDEMIC

- Implement strictly Announcement no 283/TB-VPCP dated 8/8/2020 of the Government Office on the Conclusion of Prime Minister - Nguyen Xuan Phuc at the Standing meeting of the Government on COVID-19 prevention and control.

- Implement seriously the Announcement No. 1067/TB-VPTU dated 28/7/2020 of the Provincial Party Committee Office on the Conclusion of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee on urgent direction of measures for COVID-19 prevention and control; Official Dispatch No. 1810-CV/TU dated 30/7/2020 of Binh Thuan Provincial Party Committee on strengthening leadership in Covid-19 prevention and control, and Official Dispatch No. 2983/UBND-KGVXNV dated 07/8/2020 of the Provincial People's Committee on continuing to strengthen measures for COVID-19 prevention and control in the new situation.

- Continue to implement Official Dispatch No. 2502/CV-BCĐ dated 31/7/2020 of the Provincial Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control on urgent review and isolation of cases coming from high-risk locations of Da Nang city, which focuses on:

Reviewing and listing of all cases in the area that have ever traveled to Da Nang city and other provinces with epidemic outbreaks from July 1, 2020 to July 28, 2020 to screen and verify at-risk cases for organizing appropriate medical isolation according to the guidance of the National Steering Committee and the Ministry of Health; taking samples for early detection of infected cases to avoid spreading the disease to the community and request all of these cases to conduct immediately the medical declaration for monitoring and updating of health status.
