The Standing Office of the Provincial Steering Committee for Natural Disaster
Prevention, Search and Rescue has just received initial information on the
incident of a crew of the ship KOTA RATNA, with Singaporean nationality,
falling into the sea and missing.
Specifically,
on November 3, 2023, the Standing Office of the Provincial Command of Natural
Disaster Prevention, Search and Rescue received a report from the Provincial
Border Guard Command on the initial information on the incident of a crew of
the ship KOTA RATNA falling into the sea and missing, and the search and rescue
at sea information number 587/TKCNKVIII-PHCN of the Maritime Search and Rescue
Coordination Center Region III.
According
to the report of the Provincial Border Guard Command and search and rescue
information from the Maritime Search and Rescue Coordination Center Region III,
at 11:17 a.m. on November 3, 2023, the ship KOTA RATNA, Singaporean
nationality, container ship, tonnage 9422; while traveling through Binh Thuan
waters, one crew member fell into the sea and disappeared at a location about
108 nautical miles northeast of Vung Tau cape, about 24 nautical miles
northwest of Phu Quy island (at 10°55'30''N - 108°48'30''E). The ship KOTA
RATNA has requested assistance in searching for the missing crew. The above
area has a level 4 Northeast wind.
After
receiving the information, the Provincial Border Guard Command has directed the
Border Guard stations and Squadron 2 to notify boats and fishermen operating at
sea near the above location to rescue as soon as discovering the victim.
The
Standing Office of the Provincial Steering Committee for Natural Disaster
Prevention, Search and Rescue requests the Phan Thiet Coastal Information
Station and Binh Thuan Maritime Port Authority to broadcast the search and
rescue information to ships and boats in the area or on the go across the above
coordinates to enhance observation and assist in searching for the victim. At
the same time, it is requested that the People's Committee and the Steering
Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention, Search and Rescue of Phu Quy
district to notify local boats currently operating at sea or near the area
where the victim of the ship KOTA RATNA fell to assist in searching.
