Solutions on expanding the market consumption for Binh Thuan dragon fruit

(binhthuan.gov.vn) Dragon fruit is identified as an advantage and
specialty tree of Binh Thuan province. In 2021, the area of dragon fruit reached
33,750 hectares with output of 700,000 tons/year. Dragon fruit production plays
an important role in the agricultural and rural economic development of the
province. Currently, there are more than 30,000 farmer households involved in
the production, purchasing, preliminary processing of dragon fruit for export,
creating regular jobs for 70,000 - 80,000 employees every year. Besides, the
export value of Binh Thuan dragon fruit accounts for a high proportion in the
structure of fruit production value.
The Department of
Industry and Trade of the province has coordinated with the Ministry of
Industry and Trade, the Trade Promotion Agency, the Vietnam Trade Office in
foreign countries and the Departments of Industry and Trade of other provinces
and cities to support associations, businesses, cooperatives, production
facilities, dragon fruit traders to participate in seminars and conferences to
connect the supply and demand, connect the export of goods with domestic and
foreign businesses and distributors, thereby helping businesses to capture and
update information on the situation of market and product lines; trading, working
with partners to seek opportunities for business cooperation, and development
of market to promote export.
