Statement on removing Binh Thuan Province out of the category of high-risk localities in COVID-19 prevention and control

STATEMENT

on removing Binh Thuan Province out of the category of high-risk localities

in COVID-19 prevention and control



 

                   To:

                             - The Prime Minister;

                             - The National Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control;

                                    - The Ministry of Health.

 

            Following the directions of the Government, the Ministry of Health, and the National Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control, Binh Thuan has seriously and urgently organized the implementation of COVID-19 prevention and control in the province. Thereby, the situation and evolution of the epidemic have been grasped by timely effective solutions for preventing and controlling. With the unanimity and determination of the whole Party, entire soldiers and people, the serious implementation of measures to prevent and control the epidemic, up to now (after 39 consecutive days), there is no new case in Binh Thuan Province, infected cases have been discharged from hospitals, suspected cases have been timely managed, isolated, and completed the quarantine period. The province has fully controlled the disease with the consent and trust of people.

          On 16/4/2020, the Government Office issued the Announcement No. 158/TB-VPCP on the Conclusion of the Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc at the meeting of the Standing Government on COVID-19 prevention and control. Accordingly, the Government placed Binh Thuan Province into the category of 12 high-risk cities and provinces, urgent measures are needed to continue seriously implementing Directive no 16/CT-TTg dated March 31, 2020 of the Prime Minister. Implementing the direction of the Prime Minister in the above Announcement, Binh Thuan Province issued Official Letter no 1420/UBND-KGVXNV dated April 16, 2020 on continuing to implement urgent measures to prevent and control COVID-19 epidemic according to the direction of the Prime Minister.

Up to now, Binh Thuan Province has continuously gone through 39 days with no COVID-19 infected case recorded in the community, and 9/9 infected cases of COVID-19 have been cured and discharged from hospitals, and returned to the community, the outbreak related to patient no 34 has been wiped out (no new outbreak); all cases of foreigners in Binh Thuan are strictly managed with negative screening test results, their health are all stable; the treatment facilities, field hospitals and concentrated isolation areas are all prepared by the province for receiving and dealing with all infected or suspected cases of COVID-19. Binh Thuan Province has basically controlled the COVID-19 epidemic outbreak (with attached report).

          Based on the actual situation and in order to flexibly implement the epidemic prevention measures in association with economic development measures, ensuring social security and stability, the People's Committee of Binh Thuan Province presents to the Ministry of Health, the Standing Committee of the National Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control to submit to the Prime Minister for consideration of placing Binh Thuan Province into the low-risk category since April 22, 2020. The Provincial Party Committee and People's Committee of Binh Thuan Province will continue to strictly implement the Prime Minister's instructions on social distancing; implementing measures to prevent and control COVID-19 epidemic in the area to contribute to ensure the dual goals on both disease prevention and socio-economic development.
