Strengthening the management and quality control of medicines to fight against counterfeit medicines and medicines of unknown origin in the province

Binh Thuan Provincial Department of Health has just planned to strengthen the
management and quality control of medicines to fight against counterfeit medicines
and medicines of unknown origin in the province.
Specifically,
the Department of Health will regularly strengthen the inspection of medicine production
and business establishments on quality to fight against counterfeit medicines
and medicines of unknown origin in the province.
Publishing
the hotline (02523.830.670) to receive information and complaints from
organizations and individuals about acts of producing, trading, and using
counterfeit medicines, medicines of unknown origin, and poor quality medicines;
promptly processing information and coordinate with functional agencies in
investigating and handling violations.
Coordinating
with relevant departments, agencies and localities to research and organize a
medicine distribution system in the area to meet the requirements of medicine
supply for disease prevention and treatment and to meet management requirements
in the current new situation. Continuing to implement the Project on
application of information technology to connect medicine supply establishments
according to Directive No. 23/CT-TTg dated August 23, 2018 of the Prime
Minister on strengthening management and connection of medicine supply
establishments and Directive No. 17/CT-TTg dated June 19, 2018 of the Prime
Minister on strengthening the fight against smuggling, commercial fraud, production
and trading of counterfeit and poor quality goods under the group of
pharmaceutical products, cosmetics, functional foods, medicinal herbs and
traditional medicine ingredients.
Organizing
the dissemination and implementation of legal documents on handling acts of
manufacturing and trading counterfeit medicines under the direction of the
Ministry of Health; notifying information about counterfeit medicines, the
recall of poor quality medicines to medical facilities in the area quickly and
effectively.
Periodically
reviewing, summarizing, evaluating and taking lessons learned in the prevention
of counterfeit medicines in the locality.
According
to the Department of Health, the implementation of this plan is to prevent and block
the production, trade and use of counterfeit medicines, poor quality medicines,
ensuring effectiveness in treatment and health safety for patients, especially
in the current period. During the implementation, the unit will combine well
the propaganda and dissemination of the legal provisions on quality to fight
against counterfeit medicines and medicines of unknown origin; promptly detecting
and handling violations in accordance with the provisions of law.
