The Agriculture and Rural Development Sector to strengthen the direction of forest protection measures implementation

According to the report of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development,
in the first 6 months of 2020, the Sector has actively implemented the (amended)
forest protection and development master plan for the period 2011-2020, the
forest protection and development plan
in the period 2016-2020 and the restructuring contents for forestry sector. At
the same time, intensively directing the implementation of measures for forest
protection, forest fire fighting and prevention, deforestation prevention,
encroachment prevention on forestry land and acts against officials on duty.
Since
the beginning of the year, 39 cases of fire have occurred under the forest
canopy with an area of 60.83 hectares, increased 24 cases/37.09 hectares over
the same period; the fire cases were mainly in grasslands, shrubs, and dry
leaves under the forest canopy, which were mobilized to fight in time, thus
causing no harm to forest resources. Detecting and preparing 83 records of
violations, decreased 85 cases over the same period (83/168 cases); prosecuted
03 cases of violations, administratively sanctioned 75 cases of violation;
confiscated 92.76 m3 of all kinds of woods.
The
contracting of forest protection has been carried out as 131,392 ha/121,000 ha as
planned (108.6%), of which contracted to ethnic minorities as 86,179.4 ha. The
zoning of natural forests for regeneration has been conducted as 1,500 ha/1,500
ha as planned (100%). The forest owners focused on nursing and tending the
seedlings to serve the planting plan in 2020 as soon as the weather become more
favorable, by May 5, 2020, 1.89 million seedlings of all kinds were sown.
In the coming time, the Agriculture and Rural Development
sector will continue to deploy the key tasks and solutions to restructure the forestry
industry. Strengthening the inspection and direction of the
forest management and protection to prevent
deforestation, encroachment and re-encroachment of forest land in the rainy
season, acts against officials on duty, especially in areas adjacent to other provinces and key regions within the province; Strictly managing the natural reserves. Monitoring and urging the forest owners to well perform the
forest protection, zoning
and tending forests for regeneration;
completing the target of planting 1,050 hectares of forest, increasing the
forest coverage rate to 55%.
