With the news that the AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine can lead to the risk of
blood clots, the Department of Preventive Medicine (Ministry of Health) recently
said: AstraZeneca is one of 14 COVID-19 vaccines approved by the World Health
Organization for emergency use in more than 170 countries with more than 2
billion doses administered globally.
WHO
recommends that this is a safe and effective vaccine for everyone 18 years of age
and older. Rare side effects such as thrombosis with thrombocytopenia syndrome
(TTS) only occur between 3 and 21 days after injection. A statistic from GAVI
shows that the rate of side effects recorded in the UK is only 4/1 million
people. The appearance of blood clots can be caused by COVID-19, even up to 6
months after being infected with COVID-19.
The
Ministry of Health states: Since July 2023, Vietnam has used up all this
vaccine, so there is currently no risk of TTS. Therefore, for people who have
been vaccinated with AstraZeneca, there is no need to perform a D-dimer test or
any other blood clotting test because there is no longer a risk of thrombosis
and thrombocytopenia in people who were vaccinated nearly 1 year ago. The
Ministry of Health recommends that people continuously update information from
official sources to have a more complete view of epidemic prevention and control
measures and understand the benefits of vaccination./.
