Protecting aquatic resources is crucial for safeguarding aquatic species,
particularly rare and valuable ones; preserving biodiversity and ecological
balance in aquatic environments; restoring and regenerating fishery resources;
and contributing to the sustainable development of fisheries. This, in turn,
supports economic, scientific, and tourism development. Therefore, the Ministry
of Agriculture and Rural Development has issued a decision announcing the list
of fishery resources protection areas.
The list of
fishery resources protection areas includes both coastal and inland aquatic
resources protection areas.
In the list of
fishery resources protection areas, Binh Thuan Province includes a coastal
protection area that encompasses the marine regions of Ham Thuan Nam District
and La Gi Town, with a protected marine area of 33,727 hectares. the key
species to be protected are the white leg shrimp and eel.
The Minister of
Agriculture and Rural Development has recommended that the People's Committees
of centrally governed provinces and cities direct relevant agencies and units
to develop plans and manage the fishery resources protection areas in their
jurisdictions in accordance with the regulations of the Law on Fisheries 2017.
