to the Provincial Statistics Office, by the end of the first quarter of 2022,
the consumer price index (CPI) increased by 3.55% over the same period last
year. Increasing prices of gasoline, oil and raw materials are the reasons for
the increase in CPI.
Specifically, the
Statistics Department said: March’s CPI increased by 0.51% over the previous
month, increased by 3.67% over the same period last year and increased by 1.31%
compared to December last year. The average CPI in the first 3 months of 2022 increased
by 3.55% compared to the same period last year.
Compared to the
previous month, in 11 main groups of consumer goods and services, there are 07
groups of goods increased in price: Traffic 4.97%; Housing, electricity, water,
fuel and construction materials 0.94%; Household appliances and appliances
0.18%; Other goods and services 0.15%; Beverages and tobacco 0.06%; Culture,
entertainment and tourism 0.03%; Medicines and medical services 0.01%. There
are 02 groups of goods decreased in price: Food and catering services 0.29%;
Apparel, hats and footwear 0.11%. There are 2 groups of goods stabled in price:
Post and Telecommunication, and Education.
The factors caused
CPI increase in the quarter are: Petrol price was adjusted 7 times, causing A95
gasoline price to increase by 5,900 VND/liter; E5 gasoline price increased by
5,780 VND/liter and diesel price increased by 6,060 VND/liter.
Domestic gas prices
fluctuated according to world gas prices, on average in the first quarter, gas
prices increased by 21.04% over the same period last year, contributing to the
increase in the overall CPI. The price of housing maintenance materials in the
first quarter of 2022 increased by 8.08% over the same period last year due to
the increase in the price of cement, iron, steel and sand in line with the
price of input materials, causing the overall CPI to increase accordingly.
