The index of industrial production (IIP) in January increased by 7.77% over the same period

The Lunar New Year of the Cat took place in January 2023, so the number of
working days was 8-10 days less than the previous month and the same period
last year, many businesses boosted production in the previous month to serve
consumer demand during Tet holiday, the decreased number and size of orders
affected industrial production in January 2023.
According
to the Statistics Office, the index of industrial production (IIP) in January
2023 was estimated to decrease by 4.13% compared to the previous month and
increased by 7.77% over the same period last year. In terms of industrial
production value (2010 constant price), it is estimated that January 2023 will
reach 3,089 billion VND, increased by 6.92% over the same period last year. In
which, the mining industry is 70.93 billion VND, increased by 7.15%; processing
and manufacturing industry is 1,349.55 billion VND, increased by 1.8%; electricity
production and distribution is 1,643.83 billion VND, increased by 11.55%; water
supply, waste water and waste management and treatment activities is 24.70
billion VND, increased by 4.32%.
Manufactured
products in January 2023 is higher than the same period last year, including:
sand and gravel of all kinds increased by 1.96%; mining stone increased by
18.12%; ready-made clothes increased by 23.07%; fish sauce increased by 1.74%;
tap water production increased by 2.08%; electricity production increased by
11.72%; processing of rubber latex increased by 12.41%. Reduced products
include: Salt granules decreased by 87.48%; frozen seafood decreased by 6.73%;
dried seafood decreased by 51.52%; cashew kernels decreased by 1.69%; mineral
water (excluding pure mineral water) decreased by 28.02%; bricks of all kinds
decreased by 13.16%; furniture and wood products decreased by 39.57%; animal
feed decreased by 6%; shoes and sandals of all kinds decreased by 38.14%.
