The rate of COVID-19 vaccination in Binh Thuan still low

the time, based on the directions of the Ministry of Health and the Provincial
People's Committee, the Department of Health has actively implemented many
professional measures to urge and direct localities on strengthening COVID-19
vaccination and many solutions for communication. However, the vaccination in
our province is still very slow and low.
As counted by the
Department of Health, by the end of August 8, 2022: the rate of people over 18
years old getting the first booster shot (the 3rd dose) reached 60.6%, and children
from 12 to under 18 years old reached 22%; the rate of children from 5 to under
12 years old received the 1st dose and 2nd dose reached 55.2% and 31.7%,
respectively. In particular, the rate of first booster shot (shot 3) for children
12 years old and older, and children from 5 to under 12 years old taking 02
basic doses are still low compared to the average rate of the Central region and
nationwide.
Studies around the
world have noted that the protective efficacy of the primary dose of COVID-19
vaccine decreases over time within 6 months after vaccination and in the
presence of new strains. Therefore, for those who have had the basic injection,
if they do not receive the booster dose, there is still a risk of disease. On
the other hand, people who have had COVID-19 are still likely to be reinfected
and suffered from complications of the disease, including children and adults.
Some recent studies show that people who are reinfected are still at risk of
serious illness which require intensive resuscitation treatment.
