The Red Cross Association urges people to participate in voluntary blood donation
(binhthuan.gov.vn) Blood
donation is a noble action, a beautiful behavior between people and is the
tradition of mutual love and affection of “The leaves protect tattered ones” of
the Vietnamese people. As determined the significance and importance of
voluntary blood donation, the Binh Thuan Red Cross has promoted the extensive
propaganda to cadres, civil servants, officials and all stratum of society
about the purposes and meaning of voluntary blood donation. Meaning of
voluntary blood donation and the effect of blood in treating and curing
patients.
However, due to the influence of
Covid-19, many districts, towns and city in the province currently have had to
temporarily suspend the voluntary blood donation programs. This makes it
difficult for the source of blood bank in emergency and treatment at
upper-level hospitals. Facing with the above situation, the Red Cross
Association of Binh Thuan province has called for people to participate in
voluntary blood donation at the provincial General Hospital and received the
response of all stratum of society
Despite being busy, Mr. Nguyen Duc Nga
from Phu Thuy ward, Phan Thiet city immediately came to the Provincial General
Hospital to register for blood donation after knowing the information on
humanitarian blood donation of the Red Cross Society of Binh Thuan province on
the social network. After screening, filling out a voluntary blood donation
registration, and conducting a quick test, Mr. Nga was arranged to take blood
at a safe distance as requirements of Covid-19 prevention and control. His
blood was donated to serve the healing and saving lives. This was the second
time, Mr. Nga had participated in humanitarian blood donation, and this will
not be the last, he emphasized.
Mr. Nguyen Duc Nga shared, the purpose
of blood donation is to give hand to the community, gifting drops of blood for
love sharing. This was the second time he had donated blood at Binh Thuan
General Hospital, and if possible, he would be willing to donate blood for the
next time.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Tram residing in Mui Ne
ward, Phan Thiet city also said that she always wants to give her small efforts
to the community, hoping that her blood drop can help people in need. Tram
herself is very happy for doing this meaningful event.
According to the Red Cross Association
of Binh Thuan province, the Provincial People's Committee has assigned the
Association to target the mobilization of 4,000 blood units in 2021. Through
the first 6 months of the year, the amount of donated blood reached about 2,500
units. However, the impact of Covid-19 recently, many localities in the
province had to conduct the social distancing, has made it difficult for the
voluntary blood donation programs. Along with that, the current blood donors
are also limited, as many people have just received Covid-19 vaccine and have
not passed the suspending period for blood donation as regulated by the health
sector. This also has entailed the risk for the source of live blood bank at
provincial hospitals due to insufficient supply. In order to solve this urgent
need, via the social networks: Facebook and Zalo, the Red Cross Association of
Binh Thuan province has called on all people inside and outside the province to
participate in voluntary blood donation at the Department of Hematology,
Provincial General Hospital. This blood donation is taken from 15/7 to the end
of 31/7/2021.
According to Mr. Dang Ngoc Thien -
Chairman of the Red Cross Association of Binh Thuan province, after calling for
voluntary blood donation via the fan page "Voluntary blood donation in
Binh Thuan province" of the Provincial Red Cross Association and the mass
media, many people have actively participated in blood donation at Binh Thuan
Provincial General Hospital. Until now, more than 200 units of blood have been
donated. Most of the people participating in blood donation are employees,
officials, employees, youth unionists and volunteers of the Red Cross
Association, the blood bank team living in Phan Thiet city. However, the
current blood source is still lacking, insufficient to serve the patient's
needs and replenish the blood reserve in the coming time. The Chairman of the
Provincial Red Cross Association hopes healthy people to participate in blood
donation, showing their noble acts of blood donation for saving lives during
this difficult time.
