On the morning of February 8, 2023, the Provincial Agricultural Promotion
Center in collaboration with the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) in
Vietnam organized a training course on identification of carbon footprints in
dragon fruit cultivation in Binh Thuan province.
Attending
the training course, there were leaders of the Provincial Agricultural Promotion
Center; representatives of local leaders and a number of cooperatives
cultivating VietGAP and GlobalGAP dragon fruits in districts of Ham Thuan Bac,
Ham Thuan Nam and Bac Binh.
At
the training course, the experts from the United Nations Development Program in
Vietnam communicated relevant information on climate change and greenhouse gas
emissions; guidance on identification of carbon footprints in dragon fruit
production; group discussion on performance data of dragon fruit farming
models; conducting surveys on VietGAP, GlobalGAP dragon fruit production,
organic production and traditional cultivation.
According
to the Provincial Agricultural Promotion Center, in recent years, our province
has paid great attention to the quality of Binh Thuan dragon fruit by creating
favorable conditions for cooperatives and businesses to learn and update the
latest information on new technical barriers imposed by importing countries. On
that basis, a green dragon fruit production value chain has been formed
transparently and accurately in terms of traceability, aiming to improve
product quality and diversify consumption markets.
The
training course will take place in 3 days (from February 8, 2023 to February
10, 2023).
