Urgently overcoming damages caused by natural disasters in Bac Binh district

The Standing Office of the Provincial Steering Committee for Natural Disaster
Prevention and Control, Search and Rescue has just quickly reported on the
damages caused by heavy rain accompanied by thunderstorms and whirlwinds in Bac
Binh district.
Accordingly, in
the afternoon and evening from May 7 to May 9, 2023, in Luong Son town, Cho Lau
town and Hong Thai commune, Bac Binh district, there were frequent
thunderstorms, whirlwinds, and strong gusts which flooded 42 hectares of
summer-autumn rice in the planting period (from 1-10 days old) and roofed of a
house of a local people in Thai Hoa village, Hong Thai commune (with an area of
about 5m², 5m long, 1m wide). Estimated value of damages were about 460 million
VND.
As soon as heavy
rain, whirlwinds and strong winds caused damage, the Steering Committees for
Natural Disaster Prevention and Control, Search and Rescue and the of the
concerned communes and townships organized the inspection of the flooded crop
areas due to heavy rain and mobilized people to regularly check the fields,
dredge to clear the flow to minimize the flooded area and mobilize the voluntary
force of Hong Thai commune to support and help families whose houses had been
blown off.
The Standing
Office of the Provincial Commanding Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention
and Control, Search and Rescue has requested the People's Committee of Bac Binh
district to direct the divisions, functional units and the People's Committees
of the damaged communes and townships to inspect, assess the damages, and
provide guidance support to people, calculate and advise the District People's
Committee on handling and soon stabilizing daily life for people in the
affected areas.
Currently, it is
the beginning of the rainy season, it often rains with thunderstorms and
whirlwinds in Bac Binh district, besides regularly informing about the weather
situation, deploying to communes and towns to keep up with the weather,
promptly notifying people in the area of bad weather, the possibility of heavy
rain, flooding accompanied by tornadoes, strong gusts of wind, the Provincial Standing
Office of the Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Control,
Search and Rescue has asked the People's Committee of Bac Binh district to
continue directing the People's Committees of communes and townships to
strictly implement Official Letter No. 63 dated March 27, 2023 of the
Provincial Commanding Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Control,
Search and Rescue on proactively deploying plans to respond and handle
situations to prevent and avoid thunderstorms, local tornadoes, lightning and
hail at the time of season change in Binh Thuan province in 2023.
